What people are saying about their experience
of Functional Fluency and TIFF

Apart from the use of TIFF in business management and coaching, professional development, counselling and psychotherapy, TIFF has now been used in a variety of projects, such as the following:
  • Local Authority team training,
  • Year Three degree students' study of mentoring relationships,
  • A-level psychology students' self awareness,
  • European Social Fund Project for increasing the participation of women in management - "SMART Women".
Further projects are already under way.

Evaluations from workshops, and responses from TIFF Providers and their clients give a flavour of their experience of learning about the Functional Fluency model, and of using TIFF, the psychometric tool based on the model.

Workshop participants:
“Just to say thank you once again for the workshop; I really enjoyed the clear and simple way in which you explained the Functional Fluency model”. Executive coach and trainer.

“Congratulations on developing TIFF - I think it has great potential and I look forward to joining you at the next workshop”. Management consultant and trainer.

“I thoroughly enjoyed the TIFF workshop and have enthused about it back at home and work. I thought it worked well, stimulating, challenging at times but encouraging and rewarding.” Local authority manager.

“Thank you so much for a wonderfully affirmative day. It was an enriching experience and I have already brought some of this back into college today, when I was able to talk about shared values and valuing people (response-ability, and using head AND heart!).”  FE lecturer.

“I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the TIFF workshop. I was fascinated by what I heard about TA and TIFF, not to mention my own profile. I think that TIFF is extremely important and I was struck by the simplicity of the tool, as well as the complexity of the thinking that has evidently gone on behind the scenes.”  Researcher of emotional lieracy.

TIFF clients:
”Great insights, and I shall be dipping into it on and off in the future and will continue to learn from it. Thank you so very much.” Manager on training project.

“TIFF helped me feel more confident about my abilities. It explained why I may have had some conflicts with folk in the past.” Participant on management training project.

“Doing TIFF raised thoughts for me about my personal versus professional persona and why these should be so different.” Small business manager.

“I have found that doing TIFF has allowed me insight into making certain changes in my work and home life, leading to improved relations in both areas. It has been very positive.” Participant on women in management course.

“ I was a bit scared about the on-line stuff, but the instructions were fine so it was straightforward. I found my Provider’s approach really supportive and I felt really ‘looked after’.” New manager on training course.

“I never thought that a psychometric instrument could tell so much about me. I felt really recognised, and it made me think. It helps me with my self-reflection and tells me where I am putting my energy. I like that it is only a ‘snapshot’ – I was very relieved not to be put into some sort of category. Now I can change things when I have done some more thinking.” A ‘highly rational-minded sceptic’ in Germany.

One client in a local government context, who was mightily impressed by what TIFF helped him to do, gave express permission to use his testimonial publicly: “Objectively and honestly assessing ones weaknesses and strengths in the field of managing staff is difficult, but the TIFF process and its delivery fostered a positive approach from the outset. Involving colleagues by using TIFF Perspectives offered me a genuine sense of their contribution towards my personal development and my desire to become a more effective manager. Having completed the whole TIFF process I was able to become a far more enabling and trusting manager of some very capable staff, whose strengths I may not have fully appreciated in the past. I now manage resources in a much more 'hands off' and strategic way, and importantly give my staff the opportunity to make mistakes and to learn from them. The result is a mature and engaged team who are more focussed and productive. According to the feedback from my regular one-to-one meetings, they are happy at my level of interaction with them.

The story does not end there for me, however. There has been an identifiable bonus in that I found an application of the skills developed in the TIFF process in my role as a mentor for young looked after people. Using the techniques and outcomes of TIFF, I have been able to reflect upon and assess the way I interact with these youngsters to offer them what I feel is a supporting role in helping them shape their futures.”

Third Year Degree students:
“Very useful to find out more about myself.”

“TIFF was really interesting and helped me develop a new way of understanding my strengths and weaknesses.”

“With regard to reflecting on my personal behaviour, TIFF was a key tool.”

“TIFF has shown me about aspects of my behaviour that need to be worked on – excellent.”

New Providers:
“The first two feedbacks proved to be powerful and interesting. I learnt a great deal from doing them and both clients seemed to get a lot from the process - very inspiring!” Psychometric interpreter/counsellor.

“On Friday I had my first TIFF client. It worked marvellously - much better than I had expected. It enabled my client to reflect in a very positive way on his problem and on himself. We got a very good idea what we will work on next session, and developed such a friendly contact. Thanks for your support.” Senior executive coach in Germany.
